overview

Most people have heard that our ocean is being polluted, and fish stocks are over-exploited; however, as a consumer, we are not clear how bad the situations are and how our decisions and behaviors will influence or hurt the ocean? I am a sushi lover, but I’ve never thought about where those fish come from or how it was fished. I always trust what merchants have to sell. It’s not because I am ignorant or being careless with the marine issue; it’s because the information we can get is merely explosive, and the connection between ocean and consumers is not straightforward. Therefore, I want to raise consumers’ awareness to eat sustainable fishing and aquaculture by making the information more accessible and understandable to the public.

Here is the blog for my initial idea and research. (Go check it!)

During the process of defining and articulating the problem, I followed the human-centered design process to conduct research and interview to discover insight, determine my design, and develop experiments. The intention is pure. I’d like to encourage and sushi lovers like me to reduce times of eating endangered fishes while enjoying seafood. You can see more detail from the process paper here!
